It's Just an Illusion.

During the "Tennessee William" and "A Streetcar Named Desire" segment, it never occurred to me how many illusions we create in our minds to escape from reality. Professor Brady pointed out that we are constantly making illusions even when we dont realize it. Many people look up to celebrities and are often adjust their lives according to the way these celebrities live. But why do people do such a thing? Since they believe that these celebrities are perfect and glamarous, they start to create an illusion and start to think that if they buy the same products, do the same workout routine, or wear the same desginer clothing, theyll eventually resemble the same image that these celebrities carry out. But there is so many other ways on how people create their own illusion. I, for one, use music as my escape. Sometimes when im filled with stressed or even when im angry, ill turn to music to escape from my issues. Although we wish illusions were real, we often have to accept the truth of reality.

That's a wrap

"Who is Professor Brady?" My exact thought before signing up for her class. I never seemed to care about the fundamentals of Literature before entering this course. Until the first day, Brady pointed out in one of her lectures that literature has an audience; it is a device meant to express ideas for which the author intends. Never have I really thought of it in that aspect. Literature is art, poetry, music, plays, drama, movies and also in reality.
Professor Brady expanded my knowledge about the importance of Literature and why it is so relevant to individuals today. Her creativity and comprehension towards literature made it so engaging and eager to learn. I learned many themes throughout this course and various different authors and backgrounds. In all my history of English classes, I have never dissected a story such as I did in this course. All of these lessons that I gained knowledge from, have made it more simple for me to understand a novel or short story on my own. Also, Brady has made it evident that themes taken from any type of literature can be portrayed in real life circumstances; something that I learned and observe more often. Although, she has been a main part of my acquisition of knowledge, I do give credit to my piers as well. Being able to discuss and work with them about important themes and topics made me realize how important it is to be able to learn from them as well. To be wise is to not only depend on your own thoughts, but to also learn from others by hearing and obtain some of their knowledge as well.
Before entering this course, i never acknowleged the form of Literature. But now, all i seem to do is compare everything to literature and so forth. Professor Brady made me capture the essence of it and really gain interest. My ability to understand different types of novels, develop various themes, and relate it to politics are the important aspects of what i gained from this course and how i emerged as a scholar, all thanks to Professor Brady.
